Artemis I, conducted from November 16 to December 11, 2022, was an uncrewed mission that tested NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) and Orion spacecraft. It marked the beginning of a series of lunar missions aimed at reestablishing a human presence on the Moon. The mission involved a 1.4-million-mile journey beyond the Moon and back, setting the stage for future crewed missions.
