Private Japanese spacecraft will inspect 2 dead satellites in 2027
Astroscale's ISSA-J1 mission, set for 2027, aims to inspect two defunct Japanese satellites, ALOS and ADEOS-II, in different orbits. Weighing 650 kg, ISSA-J1 will utilize thrusters and imaging systems for detailed inspections. This mission follows the successful ADRAS-J mission, enhancing Japan's space situational awareness and in-orbit servicing capabilities, as stated by Nobu Okada.
