The Improved Turbine Engine Program (ITEP) is focused on developing a new engine to replace the T700 engines used in Black Hawk and Apache helicopters. This program, initiated by the U.S. Army, aims to improve hot and high performance and increase the combat radius of these aircraft. GE Aviation's T901-GE-900 engine has been selected for the Engineering and Manufacturing Development phase of the program.
